Wet season in Pattaya

With wet weather and thunderstorms in Chonburi and Pattaya it is handy to know where to go to take shelter. The most popular format of bars these days is the open front, which is open to the elements. Open front bars are non-airconditioned (obviously) but have cooling fans. If it’s raining try not to sit at the front. Seen here is Scooters bar towards the Beach road end of Soi 6.

The next most popular layout is open front (patio), closed rear area. The advantage here is that once you pick a girl from the front, you can go inside where there are comfortable sofas and air conditioning. Also, it is protected from the elements. Seen here Route 69, home of Tuktik.

Much less common now is the fully enclosed bar style. Red Point is an example of this. Ladies sit on stools or stand outside. Once you decide to go inside however, there is a spacious interior.

Many people prefer the open style as it provides a better atmosphere being open to the street, however, if you prefer a little privacy with your lady before you go upstairs the closed type has obvious advantages.

Although it is currently the wet season or “low season” there are still plenty of things happening on Soi 6. Theme costumes have become popular especially with the Nightwish group bars (Sexy in the City, Toy Box, Nature, etc) with the girls at the different bars trading costumes on different days of the week.  In addition with the World Cup, many bars are playing the games as well as the usual music for your entertainment. Football (soccer) is very popular in Thailand with Buriram United being a popular team in the Thai Premier league. Many girls are from Buriram or neighbouring provinces in the Isaan region.
