January 2018: new bars open, old bars close

As always we keep updated on the new bars opening around Pattaya, Jomtien and elsewhere. This time of year being high season there is always plenty of activity, but no shortage of girls to work in the many bars around Lengkee Metro (LK), Walking Street and of course Soi 6, not to mention the many beer bars such as Soi 7 and 8.

Recently opened in LK is the “Pink Fanny” bar. This is a classic/retro theme bar with a pool table if that is your thing. Duangjai ladyboy bar next to the cave in LK Metro has closed all the signage has been removed.

Down around Soi Made in Thailand (opposite View Talay 6/Central mall) there is contruction activity with a new bunch of bars coming online soon.

A not-very-good gogo in Soi Post office called “Far East Rock” known mainly for its milfy lineup has folded. Some of the dancers have moved on to Tahitian Queen.

On Walking Street, Mandarin is still open. There is a new Sake bar on the corner of Soi Happy. A large new nightclub called Cocoon is a bright landmark near McDonalds. Bad girls go go has closed. Marilyn Monroe is still open but not doing well.

And most importantly 7-11 has opened on Soi 6!!!

Something to know is that although there are always reports of bars closing, police raids, problems with licencing etc is that these are typical of a “fringe” industry and not a sign that the demise of Pattaya is imminent. You will often read things online saying that the sky is falling, but trust us Pattaya isn’t going anywhere.  In many countries, most new businesses fail and that is definitely the case in Thailand, especially in the entertainment industry which not only requires a good business model but strong connections to the authorities and people in power.
