Pattaya: Beach Road open, bars and clubs closed

This year may turn out to be a bad one for Pattaya.  Songkran is cancelled and much of the nightlife has been shut down including all bars and clubs, instantly felling much of the attraction at one stroke. Walking Street is deserted with not even a single tour group to be seen. Restaurants are still allowed to open so with some skirting the line of bar/restaurant, you can still get a drink and listen to some music but that is it.

For those that are looking for companionship freelancers are still working on Beach road. There are a few hopefuls to be found And loitering around Soi6. And of course the apps such as tinder and Thai friendly are another way to meet.  Realistically though most girls are on short term contracts and will prefer to go to their home province if they are able to. Perhaps some from neighbouring provinces such as Rayong will stay in Pattaya.

Business owners we spoke to are optimistic that the situation will work out within a few months. This could be an opportunity to book cancelable hotel reservations, and flights, as the market bottoms out.
